Setup Your Database And Mail Accounts
This is a fairly important part of your
site as well, if you're into that whole "using my
database" and "getting email" thing. I know
of some sites that, for some odd reason, refuse to use their
mail setups. Don't ask me why. Seems to me that if you
send mail to someone@thatdomain.com, it just looks better
than someone@aol.com or business_name@some_isp.com. Maybe
it's just me. Setting up your mail is fairly
straight-forward. You need to sign up an email for
yourself and your employees, plus passwords. Might want to
test it by sending an email to each account that is set
up, to be sure that you have them configured correctly. Be
sure to write the passwords down somewhere safe too, just
in case. Setting up your database can be a tricky
business, but it doesn't have to be. Really, you just need
to remember what your password is, and after that, you're
pretty much done. Add some tables, pull and push some data
Editing your index page
As probably all of us know, your index
page is the first page that people see when they visit
your site, for the most part. Your index page comes
with the information that it is a new site, and to check
back later...or something to that effect. You can put up a
generic design for the time being, or maybe an email
address to contact you, whatever you want. Remember, this
isn't what your site will end up looking like, it's only a
placeholder for the awesomeness that is to come.
